Reconnecting Communities Institute
The Reconnecting Communities Institute (RCI) is a U.S. Department of Transportation technical assistance center that helps communities expand economic opportunity and mobility through transportation reconnection projects.
Through group and peer-based learning, on-demand tools and resources, and tailored one-on-one assistance, RCI helps communities address transportation barriers and improve outcomes across mobility, economic development, health, safety, and community-driven decision making. We encourage innovative best practices in reconnection project scoping, planning, financing, delivery, and monitoring.
RCI technical assistance currently supports over 120 reconnection projects across over 40 states and territories. Any state, local, Tribal, or territorial government, metropolitan planning organization, or community organization working to address a mobility barrier caused by transportation infrastructure can request RCI support.
