Falkorr is a next-gen Traffic Speed Deflectometer
RoadRunner Announces Major Operational Milestones for Its Next-Generation TSDD Fleet Across the Americas

Washington, D.C., January 2026 — RoadRunner, through its technology division, announces significant operational milestones that reinforce the company’s position as one of the leading providers of continuous pavement structural evaluation in the Americas. The Falkorr platform, a next-generation Traffic Speed Deflectometer Device (TSDD), is transforming how transportation agencies and concessionaires assess pavement structural capacity by delivering accurate, continuous deflection measurements at full traffic speed, without lane closures or operational disruptions.

Since its deployment in December 2023, the Falkorr unit operating in Brazil has completed more than 45,000 kilometers of continuous pavement structural evaluation across federal and state highways. These measurements include critical freight corridors and major concession networks, supporting agencies and concessionaires in maintenance planning, asset management, rehabilitation design, and investment prioritization based on real structural response data gathered under traffic loading.

In October 2025, the company reached its next strategic milestone with the start of operations of its second Falkorr unit in the United States. With operational bases in Florida, the U.S. system initiated pilot projects and full-scale roadway evaluations for state DOTs and private clients. Between October and December 2025, the American unit completed more than 2,500 miles of pavement evaluation, demonstrating the system’s accuracy, reliability, and readiness for large-scale deployment within the U.S. market.

The Falkorr combines high-precision deflection sensors, next-generation data acquisition systems, and proprietary processing algorithms to provide continuous structural response analysis along the full length of a roadway. Unlike traditional point-based methods such as Falling Weight Deflectometers (FWD), which require traffic control and collect a limited number of spaced measurements, the TSDD captures millions of deflection data points while traveling at highway speed. This results in significantly richer datasets, enabling a deeper understanding of pavement performance and structural condition.

The system can also be integrated with complementary technologies such as 2.0 GHz Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), 3D Laser Crack Measurement Systems (LCMS), and high-resolution imaging. Together, these tools offer a comprehensive assessment of pavement health — including structural capacity, layer thicknesses, surface distresses, subsurface anomalies, and deterioration mechanisms.

With increasing demand for advanced pavement evaluation in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, RoadRunner plans to expand its operational capacity in 2026 through new services, technical partnerships, and participation in research programs with universities and transportation agencies.
